Know Your Beds Part 1

Most people furnishing their homes dive into it not knowing much about what they need or want, which is why sales people tend to have a field day with them.  Beds especially come in different types, sizes and styles and knowing what works for you before hand is a major help. And each category is broken down in different ways, if we try to do that here it would take forever so this list is going to focus on the different types of designs and even those are quite a few so this is going to be made of 2 parts so watch for the second part. So without further delay here is a general view on the different designs of beds there are. All can be gotten from a Furniture Supplier Singapore.

  1. Platform

Also known as a cabin bed, this type of bed has a base that consists of a raised, level, usually rectangular horizontal solid frame, often with a section consisting of rows of flexible wooden slats or latticed structure meant to support just a mattress.

  1. Folding

A folding bed has a hinged frame, allowing the bed to be stored in a much smaller space. These are often used in guest bedrooms and spaces where the bed will not be used regularly. Some examples fold on a wheeled frame, to put in closets, while others fold into enclosures meant to be displayed.

  1. Panel

This bed has a tall, decorated panel headboard and sometimes a footboard as well. Often the panel is divided into sections with molding, just as paneling on a wall is. Panel beds are similar to platform beds; however, panel beds have side rails which allow for a box spring and a mattress.

  1. Murphy

Murphy beds are designed to save space in a unique way, by hinging the frame so that the bed itself can be tilted vertically and stored in a closet or cabinet. This is a new and popular Modern Furniture Singapore.

  1. Trundle

Just like sofa beds, trundle beds are great for homes that have limited space. A trundle bed basically has a bed under a bed. The bed tucked under the main bed can be pulled out when you have unexpected guests and can be used efficiently. They are also known as truckle or hurly beds.

  1. Canopy

Beds that have four wooden or metallic pillars placed on the corners are called canopy beds. The pillars of this bed are used to carry fabric shades and panels that lend it a dramatic and historical look. It was extremely popular during the ancient times and was decorated using luxurious fabrics like silk, chiffon and high-quality net.
